Conservation

Wittets is thought to be one of the oldest architectural practices in Scotland, descended from George Robertson of Elgin, who started to practice there in 1792.
It is fitting, therefore, that the company can offer expertise in conservation of listed and ancient buildings. Wittets Director Alasdair Alldridge is accredited in the RIAS Conservation Accreditation scheme. This meets the requirements normally laid down by Historic Scotland and other conservation bodies regarding the training and skill of project architects for grant-assisted projects.
Our conservation work is based on special skills, technical knowledge, applied research and respect for the building's essential attribultes. We do not encourage conjectural restoration.
